The Sacred Elegance of Day One – Randoli Perahera in Kandy
Randoli Perahera Day 1 marks the start of the most venerated part of the Kandy Esala Perahera. The Golden Palanquin Procession, the first satellite peraheras, transformed into a spiritual extravaganza where hundreds of devotees pay homage in awe and veneration to the “Randoli”, symbolic of royal heritage.
Special rituals: The Veddah community also participates by giving away sacred Kohomba Kankariya in their ancestral devotion on the day. Here, the air is quiet but forceful as it thickens with reverence, with the dim gold of ceremonial lamps.
